Therapy dogs are dogs that visit schools and hospitals bringing a message of love and cheer. They should have proper greeting manners, leash manners and be able to tolerate dogs and strangers in their environment as well as some strong body handling. To work as therapy dogs, Therapy Dogs Inc (TDInc.) requires teams to pass an evaluation, and perform successfully in three supervised visits. The Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certification is offered by the AKC and requires dogs to pass a 10 part examination, demonstrating their obedience skills. Come learn the requirements for each of these examinations and hone your skills in preparation for them. Your instructor is a Therapy Dog Tester/Observer and CGC Evaluator – who better to help you prepare?
Dogs & Storks Lecture - $25 / person – (Tuesday, June 1, 7-9 pm)
Many couples test their parenting skills on a dog, before they decide they are ready for a baby. Older couples often adopt dogs for company when their children leave the nest. This means that when a new baby is coming into a family, there are often dogs that need to be prepared. Just like human siblings need to be prepared for the arrival of a baby, canine siblings should be prepared as well. Knowing what to expect and how to prepare can greatly decrease stress, prevent problems and eliminate unwanted behaviors that may present in these times of stress and change. Come learn how to teach your dog to prepare for life with Baby!
